Hotels in Mauritius has a complete database of all the leading 1 star, 2 star,
3 star, 4 star and 5 star hotels in Mauritius. Hotels in Mauritius has
also lists of all types of accommodation such as exclusive guest houses,
bed & breakfast, boarding inn, beach bungalows, self-catering beach bungalows
in Mauritius and apartments to the smallest of studios. In the accommodation
category, we have also listed, for the small budget, companies and services related
to your holidays
in Mauritius, such as tour operators, travel agents, and private beach bungalows.
You can also browse the Mauritius
Yellow Pages for other categories related to tourism. Tariffs
for Mauritius hotels in Mauritius: If quoted to you directly,
major hotels in Mauritius are generally more expensive than if you went through
your local travel agent in the country you reside. The major Mauritius hotels
have, generally, NO interest in dealing directly with the public. They will quote
you, but when you calculate, you will see that you are better off taking a package
with your local travel agent. A hotel that will deal directly with clients,
and based in the heart of Perybère, is the Côte
d'Azur Hotel who offer extremely competitive prices and the hotel is of excellent
standing. They class themselves as a 2 star hotel but in terms of cleanliness,
hygiene and general services I class them as a 3 star hotel, without all the additional
services that a 3 star hotel in Mauritius may provide. Perybère has
the most beautiful beach in Mauritius. Perybère also offers a number of
supermarkets for the self catering tourism and just down the road, in 3 minute
taxi ride, you have in Grand Baie a hypermarket called SUPER U! There is a
good night life at walking distance and a dozen or more restaurants in Perybère;
all reachable in 5 minutes on foot. Talking about restaurants, rent
yoursef a car and take a drive down to Chamarel
Restaurant in south of Mauritius and enjoy a beautiful serene view of the
west coastof Mauritius whilst eating. Tariffs for accommodation:
These vary from $10,00 a night, for a bed and breakfast in Mauritius
(clean), situated in Rose Hill in the center of the island, to the five star hotels
where I leave your imagination to fit your budget!
Recommended self catering beach bungalows in Mauritius:
I recently discovered, in Trou d'Eau Douce on the east coast of Mauritius , self-catering
beach bungalows in Mauritius called Cilaos, a family business run by Belall
and Sarah. The complex is extremely clean, and much to my surprise very cheap,
starting at low season tariff of Rs 900.- (Mauritian Rupees) Euro 35,-*
a night for a studio to Rs 1,300.- a night for a duplex bungalow (ground floor)
2 bedrooms, bathroom, dining room and kitchen with balconies from the master bedroom
and living room permitting you to appreciate the sun rise whilst "breakfasting",
a totally breath taking experience! The east coast can get quite windy, in the
winter months, but a paradise for wind and kite surfers. You can contact
Belall and Sarah through
their web site.*

Recommended Guesthouses:
If you are looking
for a peaceful stay in Mauritius on the golden beaches of Point d'Esny,
also on the east coast, then try Chantemer
which is one of the most exclusive
guest houses in Mauritius starting at $ 60,- a night including breakfast.
There is no other guest house in Mauritius that compares to the exclusive standard
that the hosts offers. This guest house is highly rated in the best guides
such as Michelin, Lonely Planet, Vacances Evasion, Routard, Le Voyagé,
Le Point, Marie-Claire... the list is endless!
Mauritius
Car Rental: Car
hire in Mauritius can be quite expensive due to high import duties on imported
vehicles this said they can range from $30,00 a day upwards.
Consider consulting
one of the biggest car
hire in Mauritius. Try also, Internetconsultancy.info for other
car hire and rental services in Mauritius. Taxis:
Prices vary from taxi to taxi, there is an official tariff, which generally
is not respected, and if you take a taxi stationed at a hotel, you will pay more!
As a tourist, taxi drivers will always try to exploit your ignorance to the law.
This said I can recommend 2 taxi drivers you may contact them through their
GSM or SMS;

Both of them will respect the official tariffs, indicated
on the taxi meter, at Rs 11.00 per km (from 05:00 am - 20:00pm) and Rs 15.50 (night
tariff). Rates include return journey meaning Rs 5,50 to destination and Rs 5,50
return. Hereunder you can consult a list of taxis in Mauritius, which
have been listed to help you find a reliable and honest service. Should you have
a bad experience, with a taxi driver, contact us through the Mauritius

Ecological Tourism Portal: Ecological tourism, still in its
early years, is a new tourism sector for Mauritius. A new eco-tourism
portal is under development.
Shopping: Where most
items are imported and are subject to high import taxes, the textile industry
provide you with cheap branded textiles, normally rejected for exports, but still
a bargain. Beware of textile branded imitations such as Ralph Lauren sold under
the banner of a "Factory Shop" which have been popping up all over the
island like mushrooms. Pictures
from Mauritius: Have a look at some of the
pictures from Mauritius I have taken. If you are coming to Mauritius
have a great holiday!
